The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre announced today the launch of a new Modern Slavery Registry website. The site captures statements made by companies under the UK Modern Slavery Act on what they are doing to eradicate modern slavery from their operations and supply chains.
The goal of the site is to enable stakeholders to understand whether statements are in compliance with the legislation and analyze the quality of the reporting. Companies can use the information on the site to compare their reporting, improve, and submit their own statements.
At launch, the site contains 1860 statements from companies in 27 sectors, headquartered in 29 countries.
Modern Slavery Registry is powered by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, and guided by a governance committee which includes: Freedom Fund, Humanity United, Freedom United, Anti-Slavery International, the Ethical Trading Initiative, CORE Coalition, UNICEF UK, Focus on Labour Exploitation, and Oxfam GB.
