POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager is a temporary fixed-term position supporting Humanity United’s KnowTheChain (KTC) project, focusing on KTC’s benchmark reports. Currently KTC covers three high-risk sectors: information and communications technology (ICT); food & beverage; and apparel & footwear. The position will manage the benchmark publication process as well as support efforts by the KTC team to expand the project’s scope and reach amongst investors.
KnowTheChain is led by Humanity United in collaboration with the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, Sustainalytics, Verite, and Thomson Reuters Foundation. KTC is a resource for businesses and investors who need to understand and address forced labor risks within their supply chains. It benchmarks current corporate practices, develops insights, and provides practical resources that inform investor decisions and enable companies to comply with growing legal obligations while operating more transparently and responsibly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Project management:
-Act as communications hub for KTC partners and the benchmarking process.
-Create, maintain, and manage project timelines.
-Manage review and approval processes for KTC reports and website.
-Coordinate and collaborate with KTC team members including HU staff and KTC partners.
-Manage the work and direction of KTC’s digital agencies, copy editors, and external consultants.
-Manage production and release processes for benchmark reports.
-Anticipate/assess project risks and suggest solutions when obstacles emerge.
-Lead weekly planning meeting call.
Benchmark Production Management:
-Contribute to the development, writing, and editing of all benchmark reports and associated copy.
-Oversee the design and production of reports and provide creative guidance.
-Manage the production process, editing, and approval flow of benchmark reports and associated copy to ensure a timely release.
-Manage all content elements of the KTC website, which includes but is not limited to writing website copy, providing website design direction, and overseeing content translation into website version.
-Manage publication of benchmarks in collaboration with HU’s communications department and KTC partners.
Communications Support:
-Implement and manage communication campaigns and ongoing communications with KTC partners and supporters.
-Manage KTC benchmark launch strategies, including but not limited to webinars and in-person events.
-Produce and manage all KTC assets, including but not limited to social media content and website content.
-Monitor and flag KTC website changes/improvements that need to be made.
-Manage website updates and content production.
Other Responsibilities:
-Support efforts to engage new investors interested in KTC.
-Support strategy to broaden interest amongst investors.
-When needed, provide support for HU’s broader Corporate Engagement work.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
-5+ years of experience in project management and/or communications management.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple interrelated tasks in support of delivering on a larger project.
-Strong interpersonal communications and teamwork skills.
-Strong verbal and written communications skills, including an ability to write copy and oversee copy editing.
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams and across multiple organizations or with external partners.
-Self-starter with a strong work ethic and problem solving skills.
-Ability to work with limited supervision and high levels of initiative.
-Experience or familiarity with how labor issues effect companies in global supply chains.
-Experience or understanding of impact investing or assets management preferred, but not required.
-Experience related to human rights, international development, philanthropy and/or policy advocacy with a non-profit organization, foundation, government entity, private sector, or inter-governmental organization preferred, but not required.
-Advanced degree or professional education recommended, but not required.
-Ability to travel domestically and internationally when needed.
-Support other duties as determined by institutional priorities.
