Last year, we released our Food & Beverage Benchmark (F&B) report on the efforts of companies in the sector to mitigate forced labor in their supply chains. While the benchmark found that there is growing awareness among F&B companies surrounding the issue of forced labor, it is clear that far more needs to be done, particularly to increase worker voice, protect workers through recruitment practices, and commit to remediation of abuse when it occurs.
Today, we are publishing a Food & Beverage Company Action Guide to complement the benchmark report. The action guide looks at all seven themes by which companies were benchmarked: commitment and governance; traceability and risk assessment; purchasing practices; recruitment; worker voice; monitoring; and remedy.
The guide summarizes practices that can be implemented and provides resources for companies to engage more deeply with each specific theme.
The intended goal of this company action guide is to meaningfully advance the efforts of not only the companies benchmarked in the report, but of the F&B sector as a whole. The company action guide is best reviewed alongside KnowTheChain’s F&B benchmark report.
