Following the publication of our 2016 apparel & footwear benchmark, today we are pleased to release its accompanying Resource and Action Guide. The guide looks at all seven themes by which companies were benchmarked and highlights practices and resources that companies can use to improve their current efforts.
Even though our benchmark found that most companies have systems in place to monitor and react to forced labor and human trafficking, it also found few companies address systemic causes.
“Despite international and brand attention on worker issues for more than twenty years, many retailers haven’t addressed the deep seeded causes of worker abuse in their supply chains. Hopefully [our 2016 apparel & footwear] benchmark will help them recognize that they need to do better by the people making their clothes and shoes,” said Killian Moote, director of KnowTheChain.
The release of today’s Resource and Action Guide provides all companies across the sector an opportunity to improve their efforts and thus the lives of vulnerable workers throughout their supply chains.
